A real estate professional of nearly 25 years, Douglass J. Holmes has excelled as a broker and branch manager for Striker Realty since 2007. Specializing in residential and commercial real estate, he also manages a staff of 45 people among his primary duties in the real estate business. Notably, Mr. Holmes was the recipient of a Distinguished Sales Award from the New Jersey Board of Realtors in 2019. To add to his achievements, he was featured in Jersey Monthly Magazine as one of the Top Realtors in the State for seven consecutive years, as well as featured on the cover of Top Agent Magazine and in Morris Essex Health & Life Magazine.
At the start of his career journey, Mr. Holmes earned a Bachelor of Arts in rhetoric (radio, television and film) from Temple University in 1997 and went on to study at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting through 1999. For the following two years, he served on the production team for ABC News’ Good Morning America. During this time, Mr. Holmes was commuting from Philadelphia to New York City and his brother-in-law encouraged him to get into real estate. While he entered it reluctantly, his interest for the profession grew as he got to know the ins and outs of the industry. He loved that the real estate business is a self-starting business, noting, “If you want to be successful, you have to do it yourself.” Mr. Holmes always had a drive for success, leading him to attain a real estate license in 2004 and broker’s license in 2008.
To remain abreast of his industry, Mr. Holmes maintains professional affiliation with the North Jersey Association of Realtors and is a frequent donor to the North Shore Animal League of America. Despite diving into the field with little knowledge of the New Jersey area, his goal was to become one of the top real estate agents in New Jersey in 10 years. With his in mind, he became part of the top one percent of agents in the state in just eight years. Mr. Holmes attributes his success to his honesty, as well as inspiration from his father. In the next five years’ time, he envisions himself towards educating future real estate agents by equipping them with the proper skills to handle people’s investments.
